As part of the Office of Communications at Vassar College, the writer will have responsibility for writing news and feature articles about Vassar College, its campus activities, and its alumnae/i. S/he will assist the director of alumnae/i communications with the production of the Vassar Quarterly, a magazine published three times per year; a monthly electronic newsletter; a weekly update of the alumnae/i website, the Hub; and broadcast emails. The writer will also work collaboratively with the college’s editorial team on additional writing and web content projects. S/he will be required to attend programs and events, as needed, and is expected to develop and maintain relationships with a wider Vassar audience, including alumnae/i, faculty members, administrative staff, and students.

The successful candidate must have strong written and interpersonal communications skills and be a creative “idea person” accustomed to working with others to generate story ideas. A bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, or similar subject, and three to five years of professional experience in writing for print and electronic publications is preferred.
