Promotes a positive image, both internally and externally, of the university/college through stories, messages and publications. Researches and writes copy for both internal and external release and publication. Edits and proofreads. Develops and maintains close relationships with campus/college employees and other constituents. Supervises student workers. Manages a variety of other tasks as needed. Reports to Dean of Engineering.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. One year of public relations experience or writing experience for news media, including print and/or radio and television broadcast and/or Internet and social media outlets; working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite; ability to work under deadlines and on multiple projects at the same time; strong interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in journalism or communications related field; knowledge of AP style guidelines; knowledge of procedures for various news media, including print, radio and television broadcast, Internet and social media outlets; working knowledge of Internet/web tools; basic photography skills.
